The project at a glance

CATIE has worked on a motorcycle simulator designed to test sensory warning technologies (hearing, vision through Augmented Reality, and touch via vibration).

The objective is to identify the most relevant sensory technologies in terms of message comprehension and performance, reaction time, and user acceptability.

Our team is capable of developing the technology itself, as well as the evaluation protocols for the deployed technology, conducting user tests, and analyzing the results.

Achievements

  • Evaluation methodology dedicated to enhanced warning systems
  • Delivery of a report on the influence of alerts on: mental workload, driving behavior, situational awareness, and potential user preference for a specific system.

CATIE collaboration

  • Design of an adaptable and optimized driving simulator for the evaluation of human behavior
  • State-of-the-art review of perceptual and attentional abilities in motorized two-wheeler driving situations, along with benchmarks of existing systems
  • Simulator-based study to analyze behavior in response to haptic or visual (Augmented Reality) alerts
