The project at a glance

As part of an innovative collaboration, Wisear and CATIE combined their expertise to design a hands-free control solution for wireless earbuds.

The main objective was to enable users to play, pause, or skip music tracks through a simple jaw contraction.

This intuitive control method, based on physiological signals, aims to offer a new user interface that is more inclusive, discreet, and convenient, especially in contexts where using hands is difficult or even impossible.

Achievements

  • Creation of a functional demonstration kit, enabling the presentation of the concept to technology partners, investors, and potential users.

  • Rapid growth of the company Wisear, marked by an expansion from 2 to 20 employees, illustrating the direct impact of this innovation on its economic and strategic development.

  • International recognition, with the Innovation Award at CES (Consumer Electronics Show) in Las Vegas in 2023, one of the most prestigious tech events in the world, confirming the relevance and potential of this technology.

CATIE contribution

  • Design and implementation of an electronic acquisition chain tailored to capture and analyze physiological signals, particularly those related to jaw muscle activity.

  • Integration of artificial intelligence algorithms directly onto the embedded system, enabling real-time interpretation of the collected signals to detect user actions.

  • Development of a Bluetooth communication module, ensuring smooth interaction between the device and wireless earbuds, thereby providing a seamless, low-latency, and fully mobile user experience
