The project at a glance

Leading SME in the field of automatic inspection machines for manufactured products, PRODITEC offers a range of high-performance automated equipment for sorting and measurement. Its main clients belong to the monetary and pharmaceutical industries.

PRODITEC now aims to develop in-house expertise in computer vision based on Artificial Intelligence (AI).

The VisionIA project seeks to overcome technological barriers in the fields of electronics and AI-based image processing within an industrial context, by integrating the constraints of real-time algorithm execution.

To achieve this, the project involves the development of:

  • A hybrid vision system capable of imaging both capsules and tablets, while detecting and highlighting non-conformities;

  • AI algorithms dedicated to image classification based on the type of defects;

  • A hardware architecture that enables real-time execution of AI algorithms under industrial production conditions.

The technological advances made during this project will enable PRODITEC to design the next generation of vision systems that will be integrated into all of the company’s future products.

CATIE contribution

The Algorithms & Data and Cyber-Physical Systems departments at CATIE will work jointly on three main areas:

  • Development of state-of-the-art algorithms, followed by the search for the right balance between inference time and model accuracy;

  • Definition of an embedded target platform offering the best trade-off between execution speed and accuracy;

  • Deployment of the algorithm onto this embedded platform.
