Pierre Constant, Data Strategy & Analytics, Amplitude Laser Group
Industry 4.0 topics are among the key priorities for Amplitude.
After spending the past few years working on the prerequisites (data acquisition, transformation, and storage), as well as on initial value-added tools and services (for our clients and employees), we are now tackling more ambitious challenges. For example, we aim to deepen the integration of AI to prevent equipment failures, and to build a knowledge base by leveraging unstructured textual data.
With this collaborative R&D project made possible by the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Region, CATIE will help us accelerate. The three CATIE departments will provide us with currently missing expertise—whether it’s the Algorithms & Data department (particularly for NLP capabilities), the Human-Centric Systems department (especially to improve the acceptability of these new tools), or the Cyber-Physical Systems department (regarding the ability to embed AI into our lasers).
Murielle Bouin, General Manager, AutonomLab
As part of a European project, AutonomLab enlisted CATIE to help draft the specifications for a collaborative platform aimed at driving innovation in public procurement.
Working with CATIE helped us better define and structure our project; their attentive listening, valuable suggestions, and ability to translate our needs into technical terms enabled us to secure unanimous approval of the project from our European partners.
We are delighted that CATIE and its experts are continuing to support us in the selection of service providers.
Jean-Marc André, R&D Director. ENSC Cognitics Group Manager and Bordeaux INP Human Cognitics & Engineering Team manager
The Cognitics Group of the IMS Laboratory at Bordeaux-INP / ENSC has been working in partnership with CATIE since its inception.
This collaboration has enabled us to engage in several research programs, including European H2020 projects. For the past 20 months, the SUaaVE (H2020-EU.3.4) and CO2TEAM (CleanSky2) projects have been the focus of successful scientific cooperation, during which we have shared our expertise in cognitive engineering and human factors.
Today, the results of this collaboration—as well as our ability to navigate the challenges posed by COVID—have been recognized by both project coordinators and Project Officers. This experience has further strengthened the ties between our institutions.
Jennifer Simeon, R&D Manager, Geosat
The R&D teams at GEOSAT have been collaborating with CATIE for nearly five years —a period that has coincided with significant technological shifts within our company.
CATIE’s experts have provided us with unique expertise in the development of computer vision algorithms and neural network models. Thanks to this collaboration, we were able to develop tailor-made solutions to meet our needs for processing 3D point clouds to produce high-value mapping outputs.
With a team of experts whose skills are both complementary and diverse, CATIE brings a fresh and relevant perspective to our projects.
Beyond their technical expertise, we truly value the professionalism, enthusiasm, and open-mindedness of our contacts!
Jean-Marc André, Head of Cognitics and Human Engineering laboratory, IMS
The Cognitics Group of the IMS laboratory has been collaborating with CATIE for several years. This synergy has enabled mutual skill development in the fields of Human Factors and the use of technology. We continue to partner with them today with full confidence on several European and industrial projects.
CATIE is a unique resource established by the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Regional Council to support us at the intersection between academic research and the business world.
Frédérice Fabre, Research scientist, INRAE
We were introduced to CATIE through Marc Raynal from the French Institute of Vine and Wine, and we reached out to the Algorithms and Data team to enhance a solution that had initially been developed by one of our former interns.
We outlined our needs and provided an existing photo database. CATIE quickly proposed an initial draft of a solution, which we then refined together. Thanks to their technical expertise, our contacts raised questions we hadn’t initially considered, particularly concerning the traceability of analyses and the usability of the processing chain for operators.
The availability of the VANIILA platform is a real asset, as our team members can easily adopt it, and we are confident that the tools will be updated automatically.
CATIE’s teams were very responsive following the project’s delivery, and we would be glad to continue this collaboration on the new development areas we have already identified.
Rémi Duclos, Software Engineer , INRIA Bordeaux Sud-Ouest
At Inria Bordeaux Sud-Ouest, the Experimentation and Development Service (SED) organizes monthly training workshops. These workshops are open to all Inria staff and aim to share an agent’s expertise in a specific framework, language, or programming technique.
Following the lockdown, we are now all working remotely and decided to continue running the workshops online. When the topic is appropriate, we use the VANIILA training platform provided to us by CATIE.
We have already tested a remote edition focused on data import, cleaning in Python, and statistical/machine learning processing using scikit-learn libraries.
Using the VANIILA platform allowed us to provide participants with a “turnkey” development environment, requiring no software or library installation on their machines. This enabled them to work through the proposed Jupyter notebook quickly and comfortably.
Pascal de Beauvoir, Architecte Innovation, La Banque Postale
The Bordeaux-based component of the DSIBR innovation team naturally turned to CATIE when the question of opening up to external partners arose in 2019. We regularly exchange ideas on several artificial intelligence topics, particularly in the field of natural language processing, specifically in French.
CATIE enabled us to quickly build a standalone prototype of a voice assistant. This helped us concretely understand the various challenges involved in implementing this technology. We value their direct communication style, their ability to connect us with other organizations, their support in co-developing project proposals, and the friendly atmosphere of every meeting.
Kristelle Stel, CEO, RELAX by SC
We had the great pleasure of working with the teams at CATIE, from management to engineers, and found people who truly understood our needs and supported us in developing our management solution, both technically and on a human level.
CATIE went beyond their official responsibilities, which deeply moved us. We discovered the people behind the name — a quality that is essential in collaborative relationships.
For all these reasons, we will continue working with the CATIE teams.
